"To all Gator players and coaches." |

Now you know exactly what it's like to lose to Georgia. Losing to Georgia in any year sucks, but this was one of "those" losses, one where a win meant a berth in the SEC Championship Game, where an undefeated season (as unlikely as it was to begin the season) came to an end, where the Gator Nation invested themselves emotionally all the way to the hilt. This was never just another game. It was The Game. From the jawing on the field, you guys got it, regardless of what Coach Muschamp was saying before the game. He may very well have just been trying to keep from saying anything that could be construed as bulletin board material. But that's just speculation. What isn't speculation was that the Bulldogs showed up for a fight, just as they do every year, regardless of the teams' records going into the game. Don't ever forget this. Muschamp knows this, of course, having played as a Bulldog in this game even when the Gators were winning year after year. Imo, the Gator nation was overconfident heading into the game. Everyone seemed to be confident about the Gators winning. The line in Vegas went from -2 to -6, so basically all of the money went on the Gators. That was not a good sign. From the Bulldogs we heard...virtually nothing. Just one Bulldog player had anything to say--and he was ragging his own team. It worked. They came out fired up. A top 10 team came out fired up to win an all important game. Go figure. That should have been, and likely was, expected. Let this one burn in your memory for future years, but drop it in the next couple of days for the rest of the season. You guys are doing great. You had an off day. It happens to great teams, to national championship winning teams. LSU lost two games and won a national championship. UF lost to Ole Miss and won a national championship. Bama lost a game last year, didn't even win the SEC, and won the national championship. That's the nature of college football in the SEC. Georgia still has two SEC games left. They control their destiny, but make no mistake--Ole Miss and Auburn will both be playing their guts out to knock off Georgia. Every team loves to knock off a leader. So it's extremely important to come out fired up and show this Missouri newcomer what it means to visit the Swamp. (It means, "You're gonna lose, bitchez!") Whatever you do, don't listen to any Gator who is now badmouthing the team or any of its players. He/she didn't leave any blood on the field on Saturday. Moreover, they were probably the same ones talking too much trash before the game. They're still Gators, so you have to love 'em, but just don't listen to them. They're as full of sh!t as anyone. So store this one away, but it's now time to let it go. Focus on Missouri. Beat the hell out of the following two opponents. Then go up to Tally and leave everything on the field. You need to know that that's what most of us really care about. It sucks to lose close ones. But ask Auburn fans if they'd rather lose close ones or to have their program in the state it's in. It's these close ones that make college football in the SEC so great. The ones you lose make the ones you win so much sweeter. And those wins at Texas A&M (a fine squad, btw), at Tennessee, and at home against LSU and South Carolina were very, very sweet. They were battles, and they were fun, emotional wins. You need to remember those games, too. We all do. Remember, we're all Gators, and we stick together through all kinds of weather. You have a GREAT season in the works. Great seasons have a way of building into more great seasons. Great seasons influence great recruits, for those great recruits (just like yourselves) want to play for great teams and win championships. So keep up the great work! We're behind you ALL the way! |
