"I don't see it as Obama being given a second chance, as much as" |
|
Message Replied To ========== I don't know if anybody has noticed..... ....but Florida still hasn't been declared. Some things never change. Popular vote last I looked was 50%-49% in favor of President Obama. One way to look at it is that Obama is being given another chance, but it's not exactly a ringing mandate given that (as I posted last night via David Gergen) he is the first President since the beginning of the 20th century to win re-election by a smaller margin than his initial election. I hope that causes some reflection on his part. I'm rooting for him to become the transformative, uniting leader I thought he could be four years ago. He now has more time to do that, but the clock is ticking. ============================== moderate voters not seeing much on the R side to merit giving Romney a chance. In the last 20 years the Republican Party has lost the black vote, the Hispanic vote, and the women's vote. If they can't capture the moderates, they have no hope of winning a presidential election. For millions, the Republican Party is seen as the party of religious fanatics and social-issue backwardness. They didn't offer a broad-based, dynamic candidate who gives moderates a hope that a change would make things better. Even an economic down-turn wasn't enough to change the minds of many, so I'm not sure exactly how bad the Dems would have to screw up the economy to lose the next election. |
