This is what we did today instead of reviewing for the first semester exam. It was soothing teaching the kids how to draw a dolphin. Some of the kids came to school knowing nothing...others couldn't stop talking about it. I felt ill-prepared but did the best I could: sometimes horrible things happen and we don't know why- you are Safe- let's practice our Lock Down Drill- let's give a little love by making cards for the Sandy Hook kids- their mascot is a dolphin, want to learn how to draw a dolphin? And yes, of course I love you and will protect you.
