"Boehner is a piece of work. What I find interesting is the apparent lack "

Spkr. Boehner's shameful political game rejected by his own party

It was always absurd to me that Spkr. Boehner was pursuing his "Plan B" as a way to make a petty point instead of actually trying to find a resolution. Today his own party embarrassed him by not supporting the bill. Sort of like Sen. McConnel filibustering his own bill in the Senate, Spkr. Boehner didn't let his bill go to the floor for a vote. Now the House is leaving DC for Christmas. Fabulous leadership indeed.

of responsibility being laid at the POTUS' feet on this issue, as well as Congress as a whole.  Everybody is playing politics to varying degrees, and that is what is truly shameful, IMO.  Not to excuse the Elephants, but Obama creates Simpson-Bowles commission.  It recommends 3:1 spending cuts to increased revenue.  Obama ignores it.  Within the past year, President Obama is quoted as saying that raising taxes during slow economic times is a bad idea.  He then stumps for a "solution" which would have a rough ratio of 2:1 cuts to tax increases.  Now he seems to be holding firm on spending cuts at an approximate ratio of 1:1.5.  That is an actual INCREASE in spending versus revenue!

Nobody in their right mind thinks we can eliminate the deficit in a very short time.  However, by the President's proposal, with no real attempt at tax reform, we would NOT slow the continued growth of massive annual deficits.  At best, even with unsupported predictions of economic growth, it might slow the increase, but that is unlikely due to baseline budgeting practices in DC.

And while perhaps sending a "fairness" message, want to know what the President's proposed tax increase might produce?  The numbers I've seen is if we taxed everyone earning over $250k annually at 100% (not 39.6%), the revenues generated would only fund the federal government for approximately 3 months.  The problem is not revenues, the problem is spending and the tax code.  Until we get serious about both, all of this partisan sniping on both sides is shameful.
