"Obama not leading? That's a joke. Boehner can't even get his own party" |
|
Message Replied To ========== Exactly. And they could have done something 6 months ago,, EXCEPT that politics (and a looming election for the POTUS, all House Members, and one-third of the Senate) was more important to them than actually doing their jobs. You are correct that we don't literally step into an abyss on January 1st, but the damage to to consumer confidence will likely only be surpassed by that done to the markets, at least in the short term. And as you know much better than I, or most others, the most dangerous potentiality would be if our creditors ever lost sufficient confidence that it drove up interest rates for us. Unlikely, IMO, but not impossible at some point. At any rate, even though it is the sausage-making process, the more revolting thing to me is the manner in which those in Foggy Bottom attempt to characterize it in seemingly disingenuous ways, banking that the majority of us are either gullible, ignorant or unconcerned.============================== in line to vote. They had a deal months ago that Boehner walked out on b/c he got his feelings hurt. The R's listened to the polls before the election and figured Romney was going to win and would solve it for them, and they gambled incorrectly, but now it's Obama's fault. They did nothing for 4 years b/c they thought they would win the white house. They have repeatedly rejected deals that were essentially what THEY wanted before Obama was even POTUS. The majority of Americans (closing in on 60%) put the blame for this mess at the feet of the R's, and rightly so. BBG |
