"The gov't is like many families I've known that have more expenses" |
Message Replied To ========== I disagree that it is a one-sided issue I continue to believe that we do not solve our fiscal issues by focusing solely on one side of the equation. The analogy I always draw is to a family that is struggling to pay its bills. That family should of course cut back its spending, but has to recognize that in many cases there is only so far it can be cut back. It also needs increase its revenue if possible. We need to be smart about how we raise revenue, and in particular we need to eliminate unecessary wastes in the revenue stream (i.e., handouts from a tax policy perspective). On the Mickelson issue, I find him woefully uninformed on tax matters, even as a resident in a higher-tax state like California. Hence my pot shot at KPMG. ==============================than income and when you ask if there are any expenses they can cut and they answer no, then you find out that everyone has a smart phone and their bill is $350/mo, they have the most expensive cable package available with each kid having their own TV in their room leading to 4 connections, they have 3 car payments, they eat out 5x/week, they shop for kids clothes at all of the most expensive stores so their kids can have the popular logo on their clothes, kids play travel ball and attend private schools etc. It never occurs to them that these aren't necessities. Our politicians don't recognize what are necessities either and thus only know to tax, tax, tax. |
