"The NCAA has never worried about being ethical in the past--why start now?" |
Message Replied To ========== Shapiro lawyer: "I did nothing wrong and I was playing by the f------ rules" "and I am not bound by NCAA rules, and if they did something wrong, it is their problem and they are trying to make it my problem. This is not my problem," she told the Sun Sentinel. From what Shapiro's lawyer is saying, the information she gathered was worthless to the investigation. I don't think this impacts UM's fate at all. ==============================I have always had very little respect for the NCAA as an organization, but their investigators are the lowest of the low. Here's a little tidbit that illustrates what I mean... When the NCAA investigators were in town for several months investigating UF in 1983, a girl I worked with (we were both waitresses) began dating one of the investigators. I met him once, but I didn't know at the time who he was. I just got the impression that he was especially slick and slimy. This girl had pretty terrible judgment, and this was not the first time she had dated a slimeball, so I didn't think much of it. She was just impressed that he was a lawyer. After he left town, she told me that he was an NCAA investigator. She said he had talked her into "seducing" several Gator football players, including getting them sloppy drunk on liquor he paid for, and asking them questions that he then used against UF. That was just one of many stories I heard from her at the time, but it demonstrates pretty well how low the NCAA is willing to go. |
