Real American men love football and want their sons to play it *

==============================

I love football as much as any man here. Well, college football at least.

But I have questions, just like the President, and remain confident in my manhood.

I have questions because I work in a Department that includes some of the leading sport scientists on the subject of concussions in sports.

I have been exposed to the studies and results on the subject and now I have questions similar to the President's. It's not to say that the President or I am anti-football, but I think it is utter macho bull#badword# to question the testicular fortitude of any man who is thoughtful on the subject.

In fact, after reading what I have, I would question the intelligence of anyone who been informed of the dangers and does not have questions.

My grandfather (3rdWardSr) was a professional boxer and golden gloves when he was in the military. He was also punch drunk when he was in his 60s. He would forget what decade it was and would go missing sometimes. It was horribly sad to watch.

There is a reason the commissioner is doing so much in terms of NFL legislation and also in the punitive measures levied against the Saints. The public will find out more and more in the very near future. Expect to be alarmed.

I'm not saying I wouldn't let my child play football. However, I too would give it some thought.

I will say this though, after learning that children are more prone to concussions than most populations, I would prefer that my child played flag (per the NFL's suggestion) until middle or high school. There is a reason the NFL is creating youth sport flag football leagues across the country.
