I ask as a History major and as somebody who watches a ton of history documentaries and reads a ton of books about history still.  All you can do with that is teach...and the pay sucks.  The professor track is a LOOOOONG one filled with lots of drudgery for many years before you even have a shot of getting to where most want to be which is tenured with a comfy salary at a big university - and plenty never make it to there.

Those skills translate into success almost any place,  except maybe here.
