Message Replied To ========== RE: Combine figuring out what many of us who watch college ball already knew Manti.. What makes it worse is listening to Todd McDouche telling people to lay off the kid. I mean, with all that he has been through, people should give him a break. Where was that compassion for Tim who never created the problems for himself that Manti did? I hate ESPN and the double standards they script. They have been on a 3 year rage against Tim who has done nothing but try and get better (and win by the way). ==============================A lot of it is the love for ND (if Teo plays for Purdue or Texas he does not go to NY for the Heisman show) and a lot of it is the fact that Tim is so outspoken about his faith. There was a very good interview w/ the new NY Times chief who used to run the BBC about why the media does not understand faith issues. He himself is a conservative, practicing Roman Catholic and says that media people think of faith as a preference like a hobby or taste in music but for those who truly believe it is viewed as truth and the center of one's identity. Tim clearly cares more about his faith than he does football or his image or what ESPN thinks and that really grates on them. This is something the Cowherds and Stephen A Smiths of the world will never understand. |
