If you disagree with it, don't have one

parenting is far too difficult a job to force it on anyone. I hear horrible stories of child abuse and neglect every day, and I usually end up concluding that child might have been better off not being born. Every child that is born deserves to be loved and protected, and most of you guys are OK with cuts to the kinds of social services needed to provide them the basic necessities of life - cognitive dissonance much?

I don't think an abortion is a desirable outcome for any pregnancy, but those opposed to it right now aren't even willing to allow common sense measures to make unwanted ones less likely, which really makes me think it's more about controlling the sex lives of Americans; which, IMO, is why so many people uncomfortable with abortion still want the laws to remain the law they are now. But the right can't take no for an answer, or compromise on anything, so they keep pushing their ideology down out throats, and people are sick of it.

call, on the one hand, for government to essentially "leave us the hell alone" and let us decide what we should do with our bodies and any babies which may be formed/developing within them ......... while simultaneously on the other hand bemoaning the fact that others and the "government" are not providing what you consider necessary to raise the child.

I have no problem, per se, with government doing what it can to improve the lot of citizens.  And while I don't particuarly like abortion as a tool of convenience (which IS all to common in our nation), I don't think government should tell a woman she cannot have one.  But I draw the line when it is suggested that a woman can do whatever she wants, expect the government to subsidize or provide the means for effecting whatever her choice, and then be responsible for whatever the outcome.  At some point personal responsibility should be more in play than it is in many (not all) situations regarding abortion in our nation.
