"He might be inclined to attack Iraq again today since they are holding a Saudi." |

Message Replied To ========== George W Bush: was he really that bad? ![]() ============================== I have only visited the lounge a handful of times since its inception. I was curious what chatter might be going on in the wake of the horrible tragedy yesterday. And then I saw your post questioning if GW was all that bad... In my professional career, I have had some really bad experiences with some really challenged political figures (locally). Most of these issues arise from their special interest and friends. What I have come to realize is that everyone has their own interest at hand when they have power. It is human nature to want to help out family and friends. When Carter was in office, the peanut was pushed as a great source of protein, and values subsequently rose in the years to come. George senior had his way with fossil fuels. George W? I'm not even sure where to start. We went to war with Iraq because of why again? In my opinion, we went to war because this was his personal legacy. This was for his family (name). It was for his friends in the oil businesses. It was for all of the wrong reasons. Why are we in debt? Why did our economy tank so bad? Because we chose a path of self-destruction where we spend way more on our military than all of the threats to our country combined. The path that led us there was decided by George W. It will take years to reasonably reduce that type of spending and get our country back on path. In my career, most of those local political types I mentioned above are not very bright, yet they hold the keys to the future success for thousands in our area. Essentially, somehow, one of these idiots got elected president and negatively affected the lives of millions.
