"Nothing will stop a crazy person from killing people"

Message Replied To ==========

everything in the proposed law would have done no good to the Sandy Hook

students.

How will it prevent the killing of innocents? The use of Sandy Hook as a rallying cry for gun control by the anti-gun crowd is silly. Although a tragedy, the new proposals would have done nothing to prevent it. The shooter did not use his own guns, he killed his mother and stole her legally obtained guns to use. He did not use an assault rifle, they found the rifle locked in his trunk. He used several of his mother's pistols to perform the killings (which the mainstream media stopped reporting after the second day after the shootings).  So banning assault rifles is silly if you use Sandy hook as the rallying cry.

 Should we make everyone register when they buy a pressure cooker? Or a knife? A crazy person is a crazy person, if they want to hurt you then they will find a way to hurt you. Maybe we should go back to the good old days and lock up the crazies instead of drugging them up, turning them loose, and hoping they will stay on their meds? I'd certainly feel safer.

Everyone agrees with that.  But if we can make it even minimally harder for some crazies and criminals to obtain guns without preventing everyone else from having them, it's worth a shot.  The one life it saves could be your own child's.  Law abiding gun owners should be the biggest supporters.

Where is the outrage to background checks when you apply for a job, or for credit, for public office, life insurance, etc?
