Message Replied To ========== Do you think Tebow would still be on an NFL roster if he said "I'm gay" NTTAWWT And not saying that Tim is gay. Or that I care either way. But, and stay with me here, Jason Collins is a 34 year old bench player who averages about 3.6 points per game over a 12 year career. Now that he's come out, does anyone here think there is ANY chance he does not make an NBA roster?? Over perhaps a more deserving player? Don't get me wrong, I admire CollIns' courage and I am sure he didn't come out in order to ensure the 11th spot on some roster. Still, the media fawning over Collins contrasted with the treatment of Tebow over the last year paints a stark contrast. It makes me think that if a player of Tebow's throwing mechanics yet toughness came out in 2013,the league and the media would go all out to make sure that player made a roster as a QB and got a legitimate shot. Bring on the "WTF" button. : ) ============================== across sports and across cultures. He deserves some praise and the issue deserves attention. I don't see any correlation between Collins and how people treat Tebow. |
