"I listen to NPR until their left bias gets to me . . . " |
|
Message Replied To ========== To me, an ideal news source does the following * seeks issues of importance no matter the controversiality. * double- and triple-checks the facts with multiple reliable sources. * shows more concern with being right than being first. * presents all the facts of the issue, including counterarguments or "the other side" only when such is relevant, factual, and reasonable. * owns up to its mistakes. * makes every effort not to show bias in its choice of stories or the way it presents them. * does not cater to the lowest common denominator in order to improve readership/listenership/viewership. * is concerned-- above all else-- with educating and informing the populace, and understands that a free and responsible press is one of the most important defenders of liberty. While there is no such perfect news source, I have found NPR to be the closest.============================== which is about once every 2 weeks . . . then I flip over to the RW radio station in Bham and stay there for about 10 min then I flip back to NPR. I realize I have a greater tolerance for bias than I do for stupid. |
