and ours was sick today (he blamed a rare cooked burger he had at a friends last night), and after it being a rough day for me after losing my Mom in November, I didn't open my cards until late tonight.  This is the message he wrote to me,  (keep in mind, he's never a mushy, sentimental type of kid)......

"I know that sometimes you think that I don't care about you.  That's because I'm horrible at showing you that I care.  You truly are the best Mom I could ask for.  You and Dad saved me from a potentially horrible life by adopting me.  I should be more grateful and I'm sorry that I haven't been.  Love, Nick

I have received heartfelt messages from K, but nothing like this from him before.  This one will stay with me forever!
