He's correct on this issue. *

The Churches in Germany are supported by tax money..it makes up 70-90% of their revenue. They are also allowed to go into the public schools there and teach religion. I would say our system of Churches being not for profit but not supported by taxes is a better solution for religious freedom.

The German healthcare system has a national "Medicare for all" plan but balanced billing is allowed such that doctors may charge above the fees set by the government (unlike here). Because of that, many Germans (and an increasing number of them) buy supplemental policies to be able to pay that difference. They have virtually no medmal..basically you get nada if a doctor kills you.

And this "socialist paradise" is NOT supported by a progressive income tax (income tax generates about 40% of revenue)..it is mainly funded by an 18% VAT or sales tax on most goods which are purchased by everyone, property taxes, multiple indirect taxes etc which effect everyone. Even with the income tax, their marginal tax rates are on par with ours and their allowable deductions are such that most wealthy Germans I know actually pay LESS in effective income tax than their comparable US counterparts.

The German "green energy" initiative is a farce. It is at its limits at about 25% of the energy produced in Germany and is not likely going to be able to produce any more (these words from my wife's cousin who is the man in charge of the German governments energy initiative). Germany has been unable to sustain its own energy needs since it closed down 8 nuclear reactors and is now dependent on importing electricity from France.

So I am not so sure I would say he is "right" about Germany.
