Message Replied To ========== Nah. There's tons on this board. Sunshine pumpers and Kool-aid drinkers that is Not too many realists though. I've rarely seen Billy beat out top basketball schools for highly ranked players that can make a real difference their freshman year (Beal is the only one lately that comes to mind, but hopefully the 2 just signed can also). The '04's turned out great but they weren't that highly sought after in high school. I may be forgetting some, but other than Beal I don't remember a top 5 player that everyone wanted choosing us recently, and you usually need at least one of those guys to win the national championship unless you pull a rabbit out of your hat (a.k.a. the 04's). ============================== The top five guys are usually one and done and save for UK in 2012 who had two of them that has not been a championship formula. There have been 40 top 5 guys the last 8 years (obviously) and that covers all four classes for the last five tile winners. Of those 40 guys 5 have won the title, 2 UK frosh in 2011-12, Kyle Singler at Duke as a jr in 2009-10, and Lawson and Hansborough as a sr and jr respectively in 2008-2009. Unless you are getting top 5 guys who will stick around to their junior and senior seasons - a rare occurrence - you're better off relying on coaching to and team players to get a trophy. |
