"So here is where I stand on the whole AH situation...."

As I do most days after I left the office today, I went to our local cigar shop, Waterwheel Cigar in Amelia Island for a relaxing smoke, a little tv time, a nice leather chair, and as usual b'sing with some of the other regulars. One of them upon my entry said to me, "It's a sad day for UF". Knowing full well what he meant I asked anyway, "Why is that?" He pointed to the tube as it was showing footage of AH being led off from his home in cuffs. I told him exactly what I'm going to say now...This is a sad day for the family of the deceased. AH, guilty or not created this sh_t storm for himself by his own doing for even being in a position to have to plead not guilty even if he is and an even bigger one if indeed he is guilty. What AH is going through is his problem and a reflection on him, not on UF nor their alums and boosters the latter of which I have been a member of for 28 years. I told him, I don't hold Miami nor their fans as few as they are accountable for Ray Lewis who was "not guilty". I don't hold Southern Cal, nor their fans accountable for O.J. Simpson being "not guilty" nor do I hold Colorado nor their fans accountable for Ray Carruuth being guilty...I think he was convicted, hell I can't remember to be honest.

The point is at least for me personally, I'm a Gator born and bred and when I die I'll be Gator dead. Having said that, I don't follow the every move of players once they are done at UF. I couldn't give two sh_ts about using them on a fantasy football team which I don't play anyway, follow them on twitter as it would take me having a twitter account to do so and even if I did, wouldn't follow them, nor do I seek these guys on facebook to be one of their 14,267 "friends". To those who do, to each his own. It just ain't my thing. Don't get me wrong, I wish all of them well in life once they leave UF but if they F up their lives like AH seems well on the way to doing I couldn't care less. If he is indeed not guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt and truly falsely accused then I hope justice can be done for him the same as if the case involved Joe Schmo if he were accused and then later found to be not guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. The fact that he once played at UF has nothing to do with it.

With me, once you leave UF as the preacher on "Blazzing Saddles" said when the townspeople of Rock Ridge shot his Bible when he was trying to defend Cleavon Little, "Son, you're on your own." I wish all of the guys who ever wore the Orange and Blue the best upon them leaving but now it is time you become a productive member of society. If you fail in doing so, look only in the mirror for who to blame. Not UF, not their fans, or anyone else.

JMHO.

I've been to Alabama and people it ain't a whole lot to see. Skynyrd says it's a real sweet home but it ain't nothing to me. Charlie Daniels will tell you the good Lord lives in Tennessee ha! But I'm goin' back to the GATOR COUNTRY where the wine and the women are free. There's a Gator in the bushes and he's calling my name and he's sayin', C'mon boy you better make it back home again. So many roads I've travelled, they all kinda look the same. There's a Gator in the bushes and Lord he's callin' my name!
