"The evidence that he wanted a confrontation lies in the circumstances"

Message Replied To ==========

I don't see how any of the three manslaughter options apply here.

I don't know that we'll ever know what GZ's motives were, it is entirely possible he wrongly targeted Martin and brought about the confrontation by following him. But I've yet to see any evidence to prove he followed Martin with the intent to confront him or that he initiated the violence. Maybe not the smartest move, but that doesn't mean he wanted a confrontation, and his actions as known are excusable considering his neighborhood watch role. I don't see how you can convict someone whose head is being bashed against a sidewalk for defending himself. However, I would not put it past a jury, when given the option to convict of a lesser charge, to go that route as a cop-out.==============================

that he followed Trayvon in his car, called 911, then got out of his car armed with a pistol. Suppose your son were walking home from the store and a big black man was following him in a car, then the big black man got out with a gun. A fight ensued, and the big black man shot and killed your son. Would you consider that to be self defense?

Zimmerman put himself into a confrontation. Following someone is a confrontation, imo. Getting out of that car with a pistol was a MAJOR confrontation. Again, imagine if some random dude was following you in his car then got out with a gun. You gonna maintain that's not confrontational? My adrenaline would be throught the roof.

Zimmerman had no business getting out of his car armed. He did it because he was pissed (and probably more than a little racist). He didn't expect a fight, but he got one. He deserved one, imo. His stupid decisionmaking led to a young man's death. If he'd never gotten out of his car, this never would've occurred. I don't consider what he did murder, but it sure seems like manslaughter. Now if Zimmerman were the one just walking down the street and then out of nowhere Trayvon attacked him, I'd call it self defense. But that's not what happened by anyone's account.
