Lots of folks have no clue of being a cop.

We all have quite limited degrees of vision in real time. Cops know the law as it affects their duties basically and are not after-the-fact lawyers. Officer Friendly is PR. On the job, a cop maintains order and tries to thwart crime. Both are difficult but the latter is tough because not all citizens are criminals. Underlying any police officer's response is self-preservation. Most here don't get that because they have never been threatened physically.

The ASO K-9 deputy that arrested UF's Morrisison has a bond with his dog like he would with a human partner. You mess with it, you distract him from his own safety. When an idiot obstructs a police officer from handling an unknown incident safely, that person is likely to go to jail. Cops can't tolerate those pranks because they can get an officer seriously injured or killed. Allowing that is stupid. Doing that is more stupid. Especially if you just got out of jail a month or so ago.

OK, cuff the kid, put him in the back seat of the car, scare him, tell him why he pissed you off and that what he did is a bad thing, and then let him go.  To actually haul the kid off to jail and book him is just excessive and waste of time and resources.
