While I would have preferred this measure go in place, the victory was that at least the House did it's damn job and debated and voted on the limits of presidential power rather than just let the White House determine what it should do in secret.

Obama deserves an irony award for complaining that the proposed amendment was "...not the product of an informed, open or deliberative process." And whose fault is that, Mr. President?

Of course to many even having this discussion out in the open harmed our security. But that is the cost of a liberal democracy. And if anything, we're not paying enough of that cost these days.
