Florida does not have the talent in basketball that it does in football. It was not a sleeping BB giant. Billy D made UF Basketball into a powerhouse. What your post conveniently ignores is the guy Billy replaced questioned the resources at UF and went as far as to say that our beloved program will never be what it is today. Incomparable. When/if Billy leaves, it is highly possible that UF basketball could fall back off the face of the planet unless the right hire is made. Whoever takes the job will have an uphill battle, even though our facilities and infrastructure are now much improved. Florida is better than what it was, but still is not a BB state. Conversely, football DOMINATES Florida high school athletics and UF has a tradition and fan base that allows for no excuses for mediocrity. |
