The CPO in the center of the back row is my father.  The Marine, fourth from the right in the front row is Ken Norton Sr.  He was a Marine and cryptologist.  He boxed intramurally at NTTC Corry while in school and my Dad refereed the bouts.  Pretty cool.

The year was 1976 and the Ali /Norton fight was on 'close circuit tv' around the country. Me and two friends were late in getting to a high school in CT where the fight was playing in the gym. The place was packed to overflowing, even well before the fight started.

So, we found some metal folding chairs and walked down to the front where the projector was and  pretended we were in charge of running the show---getting up occasionally and faking adjustments. Best seats in the house.  No one said "boo". 

About halfway through the fight, something did go wrong with the projector and a guy sitting next to us who really was in charge  (unbeknownst to us) got up and quickly fixed the problem...and then turned to the three of us and said "you guys are pretty sharp".  We had nerve back then.
