Urban left for the Ohio State job under what I suspect were false pretenses to some extent.  He said the UF job was at the mountain top or something to that effect and UF fans of course believed it like it was gospel. And then Gator fans were shocked that a guy born and raised in Ohio that carried a buckeye nut in his pocket while he was UF coach would want to go home and coach at the school he grew up cheering for and originally coached at. As if UF would be a preferential job to Ohio State for Urban Meyer?  You must be kidding, and yet most UF fans didn't seem to get that one and still hold a grudge against the guy that won UF two national championships and turned around the FSU series, sending Bobby Bowden out a career loser against UF at 17-18-1. And he beat Miami.  And he beat UGA.  I will always like and appreciate Urban Meyer for those accomplishments.

So now a UGA grad who was snubbed by UF out of high school might have a chance to be head coach at Texas, a school with literally limitless resources, its own network, and the top dog in their conference as far as political power.  The same school where he was well paid as the head coach in waiting, and a place he knows well and is comfortable with.  And yet I'm sure most UF fans won't believe Muschamp would even consider going back to Texas to take over because we are, well, UF!

If you think that Muschamp wouldn't take the Texas job because he loves UF and being a Gator so much you are kidding yourself and you need to wake up, smell the coffeee, and take off your very thick Orange and Blue glasses.  UF isn't the mountain top for everybody. It wasn't for Urban Meyer, I doubt it is for Will Muschamp, and even favorite son Steve Spurrier moved on after a while. Of course it remains to be seen what kind of seasons UF and Texas have.  Texas may rebound and UF may lose to the Vols and the wheels could come off.

I find it surprising to hear that any knowledgeable Gator fan thinks that.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care if he went to Missouri Valley State.  It's the smarminess of his recruiting tactics, his phoniness, his overall two-faced behavior...on top of the way he left the program after Foley bent over backward to do the right thing by him...and the quick recovery when an attractive job came along.
