10 coahing candidates

Hugh Freeze is one who comes to mind.  Great recruiter and has Ole Miss much improved in 2 years.  He was pretty successful at Arky State before that.

The guy who's Vandy team came into the Swamp and won today, James Franklin comes to mind.  He has vastly improved them and was OC/HCIW at Maryland where he was highly regarded...and that's just from within the SEC.

Chip Kelly?  Maybe.  Does he hate the NFL?   Several other college coaches like Saban and Spurrier and Petrino have decided very quickly that they hated the No Fun League and returned to college.

Kliff Kingsburry?  Risky due to lack of experience but maybe.

Is Chris Peterson finally tired of Boise and ready to make a move?  Worth finding out.

Al Golden from scUM?  He's got experience and a solid record at 2 programs now.

Charlie Strong would be a great recruiter and he is at least a good DC.  He's another possibility even if not my top choice.

Is it true that Kevin Sumlin doesn't get along with his AD at aTm?  Johnny Football is all but gone.  Worth finding out if he might have some interest.

There is always Bobby Petrino.  Say what you like but he has no history of NCAA violations, his Offenses are exciting wide open passing Offenses which perfectly fit the talent in the state and what the fans want, and his teams win…and its not like he would leave for the NFL now that he knows he hates it.

There's 10 candidates.  Obviously several of them won't be available, will say no, yada yada yada but....Those are 10 viable candidates and there are bound to be more who would be interested in the UF job.  (eg Gary Anderson at Wisconsin, etc) when looking at bright young coaches at smaller programs.

I think it is interesting at the reaction after this game when we all knew this what we are seeing right now was a possibility of how the season would turn out going into the Uga game week.

The Uga game was going to be a loss.

The Vandy game was a pick em game based upon how they played Uga.

The Cock game was a loss.

The FSU game was a loss.

You basically have a team destroyed by injuries where you main guy at QB is gone for the year, your main defense guy is gone for the year, and then you have your various injuries to other areas of the team such as the OL which can't be compensated for. Plus you have no field goal kicker i.e. I don't think one field goal over 40 yards has been made this season and you had to replace your punter because he forgot how to punt this season. And you add the dealing with the biased refs who have always in recent memory jobed UF during games. Then you further get into the various offensive play calling issues that have been going on the last 3 seasons.

Believe me I am pissed and disappointed alumni/season ticket holder and I'm mad for everybody including the fans and the players as well because it is no fun to be in this situation right now.

Whenever you have an offense that struggles to score points at some point your defense is going to give up at some point especially when the end results are losing games.

The fast food reaction is to burn it all down period. It is a natural reaction to viewing any of this for this season considering you just lost to Vandy which should never happen and you lost to Uga 3 years in a row.

Before any of these last two games I was on the idea of giving it two seasons to see what happens.

As of right now I have gone from two years to just one year now. I still want to see what happens for one more year even though there is certainly a possibility we could endure another disappointing season.

Three issues with the burn everything down idea -

1. You can't find the replacement you want because there is alot of naive people thinking you are going to find somebody adequate to fill in for this job who a vast majority of the fan base would agree with. This next coach must be a guru of an offensive mind set that is proven. You just can't hire somebody again who has zero head coaching experience - it must be somebody who is good and proven as an offensive mind and who is interested in coming into this high risk job.

2. You could very well destroy the recruiting for this season if you let go of Will now.

3. Then you would be getting rid of a coach who just got you a 11-2 record - albeit - a very ugly 11-2 record that did not get you to Atlanta at all but it is still a 11-2 record.

I have no answers to provide as to what the correct route is now. All I would say that there are consequences of the burn everything down mentality right now. It is a damn if you do or damn if you don't decision and in my mind there is justification for fans who want something done now or for the fans who want to see one more year.

If we see another season like this next year then you have no choice and zero excuses because then you have the full blown out evidence to get rid of Will.

The aspect that is holding me back a tad is that this is his first stint at being a head coach and he just had 11-2 record.

I am not convinced you can find somebody right now to fill that job and that above list sort of proves me point. That list is just a wish list full of alot of IFs and risks to me.

For all the good things Foley has done for the program he is also at fault for this situation right now. If you consider the entire athletic department and all the hires he has been associated with since the early 90s - he has certainly hired alot of good coaches but he has also had his fair share of misses as well. The perception is that his hires always turn to gold but that is just a myth - sometimes he finds the right person and sometimes he does not. Most of the time he gets it right but at times he has his issues finding and hiring the right guy. And specifically his judgement about filling in the football coaches since SOS has left has been difficult for him to figure out so to speak.

You hire anybody that has zero HEAD coaching experience then you are going to have very bumpy roads during that first five year span if that guy gets that type of time to coach at that one place.

UF fans are used to a high octane offense and a good defense and that mentality is not being put forth right now the last three years.

If this high talent QB coming in is the answer for next year then I just wonder about giving it one more year.

I don't like watching this crap just like anybody else. I never boo because that is just plain stupid to boo under this particular situation. However, for the first time the last two games I left at halftime because I just got tired of watching it. I wish I could wave a magic wand to fix it and put it where we want it to be. I wish we could just get rid of everybody and then all of sudden we pick the right guy to coach while maintaining the stability of the recruiting for this season. But I also know that is pure rainbow and fairy dust thinking for which there is a very, very small probability of that scenario ever playing out.

I pretty much knew after the bye week that this scenario of the last half of the season would play out like this and even with now seeing all of this crap - I still really think we need to see one more year because there are no coaches out there right now UF could get that could immediately fix any of this mess and for me even though it is very hard to see right now - the idea of firing Will right now would only make things even worse even though that is very hard for the fan base to see coming off losses to Uga, Vandy - and then in the coming weeks getting hammer by Cocks and FSU.
