"you shouldn't believe the mob on either account. what do YOU think? i think you"in response to I'll be the first to say that I don't know whether Muschamp should be retained, posted by GatorTrekE |

Message Replied To ========== I'll be the first to say that I don't know whether Muschamp should be retained or not, a lot to me probably depends on whether he can get the team back together and back off the precipice or not. This doesn't mean they have to win, but they at least have to compete, something I didn't see on Saturday. That said, it seems to me the biggest and most vocal proponents of change were telling us all only a few short weeks ago that Tyler Murphy was an undiscovered gem, that Driskel would never play again at UF because he didn't have the positive attributes that Murphy displayed. I'm not slamming Murphy because I think the guy is doing the best he can, but clearly he's not the answer at QB. So, if these same fans were so easily fooled by Murphy, why should I believe their assessment of the Muschamp situation, that the situation is irretrievable, etc.... Who knows, they may be right, but then again they may be wrong. Seems to me a little more humility might be in order, at least in how confident they are in their assessment. I'll be the first to admit I liked what I saw in the early Murphy but we were fooled. Recognition of that fooling gives me pause in thinking that we know what we think we know. I'm stating right here that the replace Muschamp crowd may be right but the fervency of the campaign here is a bit distasteful, especially considering how WRONG we all were in thinking that Murphy was a suitable starter and replacement for Driskel? can't have a bye week and come out and look completely lost for the first half of a game when you should be more prepared than at any other point in the season. i think you can't get pantsed at home by vandy. i think that repeated stupid personal foul and discipline penalties are indicative of a coaching staff not properly coaching its players. i think an offense, especially at FLORIDA, should never rank worse than 100 for THREE consecutive years. i think when all of these things happen, something needs to change radically and it's not going to be the players (for the most part) or the AD.
