"As a loyalist and supporter of Coach Muschamp when others turned" |
|
Message Replied To ========== I have a new appreciation for Jim I've always been a fan of Jim on the board. We don't always agree, in fact...we often do not. Sometimes, we strongly disagree with each other, but I've always respected his opinion. And my respect for his views on Muschamp has increased as of late. Please allow me to explain. Jim firmly believes that Will Muschamp is the right man for UF Football. It's as simple as that. Do I agree with his belief, HELL NO. But I greatly respect it. He has a take and the testicular fortitude to stand by it. Compare that view to some of the excuses and fear mongering we see going on the VS. Some have asserted that we shouldn't fire Will Muschamp because they don't like the names presented in Hung's list of possible replacements. Some have asserted that we shouldn't fire Will Muschamp because they don't believe we could bring in any of the people on Hung's list. Some have gone as far as to say that the "pickings" are "slim." None of these people appreciate the full spectrum of possible coaching replacements. Hung's list is not exclusive, nor is it exhaustive. There are quality coaches who are not even on the average fan boy's radar. I doubt many here knew who Freeze was before he inked with Ole Miss. And there are countless other examples. But most importantly, the list of potential replacements will not substantially increase next year. It will remain about the same. And those who question UF's capabilities in hiring a great HBC, shame on you. You sell UF short. Your poor talk fails to appreciate that UF is one of the elite programs AND has one of the best Athletic Directors in the business. This gets me to another fear mongering meme... "I don't want to become Tennessee!!!!" Please. You people sell Jeremy Foley short. There are many great things about the University of Tennessee, but it's Athletic Department was a dumpster fire for the better part of the last 10 years. Things seem to be headed in the right direction now though. However, when you fear monger with UT, you sell Jeremy Foley and our entire Athletic Department short. Our Department is in no way comparable to UT's prior administration. It's night and day. Anyone who thinks that Foley will run a potential coaching search the way we discuss matters on the VS is very uninformed about how Athletic Departments work. Better still, they grossly underestimate the managerial capabilities of the best damn AD in college sports. OF COURSE Foley would make a calculated move. OF COURSE Foley would search for the best possible HBC. And let's give the man some credit, he's batting 500% so far, with two MNCs to show for it. Had UAT not hired Saban, we would not even be having this conversation because Meyer would be doing what he is doing at tOSU at UF. That leads me to the next bit of scardy cats, those who are afraid we may be pulling the plug too soon on Will. My question to this group is this...do you think Will Muschamp has the skill set needed to be the HBC at Florida? If so, fine. Join Jim's camp and proudly stand by your coach. But if you don't think Will Muschamp is capable of pulling out of this nose dive, then don't let your fear paralyze your opinion. So in conclusion, the issue is as simple as this... Do you (like Jim) believe that Will Muschamp is the man for UF? If so, fine. If not, maybe it's time to "nut up" just a bit and trust in your AD and in the quality of the University of Florida as a premier football destination to take care of the rest. :-) ============================== I am ready to move on. I am in the camp that 1) doesn't know enough about many of the candidates mentioned to make an informed decision, 2) thinks it's inexcusable the way this team hasn't come out ready to play in the last two of three must-win games, 3) is embarrassed by the mental and discipline lapses, 4) thinks Will Muschamp will be a fine football coach but that ship has sailed at Florida at this point, 5) wants an exciting offense at Florida, and 6) is just totally fed up with the current regime. |
