"A couple of things"

1. Muschamp had already determined he'd need a new offensive coordinator a while back. I don't know the exact time he made a decision, but let's just say it was well before Thanksgiving Day (my wild guess is before the Ga Southern game).

2. I agree that Pease wasn't good enough, and sometimes a new direction is needed even if a guy does okay in trying circumstances. I wrote this in another post, so apologies if you've read it there -- but my take is too few people who rant here take into account just what a serious challenge Pease had this year.  His major dilemma was created by constant shuffling of players due to injuries, especially on the OL. He needed to design plays that:

a. leveraged the strengths of our players;
b. added enough variety to confuse quality opponents;
c. protected the defense by not going 3-and-out in 30 seconds of game time; and
d. simplified the concepts for our players who never had the opportunity to practice together, as a unit, week after week.

I'm not defending Pease; I just believe it's easy to criticize the lack of production while ignoring the difficulties he faced outside his control. I saw glimpses of creativity in the face of these challenges, such as during the lone TD drive against fsu, but these moments were too few and far between for Pease to stay. I think they've all known we were going to make a change, but I don't believe there is any ill-will (no pun intended) because all parties involved really understand the core issues involved.

I hope these changes, whatever they are, do two things:

i. give us an OC who is also a great QB coach
ii. improve staff cohesion

I realize all of you have a right to poast. Repeating "but we were 4-8" is some sort of therapy for a few. Go ahead and write how unacceptable that is, all day and all night if that works for you. However, it won't change anything that happens in Gainesville. They don't care what anonymous pundits proclaim on these message boards. So, it isn't helping the Gators, at all, to complain that Muschamp is still our head coach. None. Nada. Zilch. I understand these messages boards are for the outlet of those who wish to vent and are not here to help UF do anything, so I have no problem with all the complaining (my opinion doesn't matter anyway). Just know that it's useless, wasted effort when you do.
