Message Replied To ========== Thought I would never say this But I question America's support for it's Armed Forces. Today's annoucement by SECDEF is a direct shot at those who wear or have worn the uniform. Do we never learn as a nation? ==============================the military, per se. One can support, respect, and promote funding of compensation & benefits for troops while calling for a reduction in the overall defense budget. The military-industrial complex has become the "monster" about which we were warned by President Eisenhower. The late Sen. William Proxmire was renowned for going after waste of tax dollars in the Defense Department. We can have legitimate discussions about force levels, readiness, projection of power, etc., and such national debate is probably in our best interest. But it is possible that I missed something other than what I saw reported this morning. |
