I thought he was persona non grata with the media and it turns out that they love him enough to do a special on him?

Yes, Dickie V loves him some Gator hoops, and some Billy D. Yes, Billy D is quite deservedly regarded and respected quite highly among the local, hoops, and national media.  Yes, lauding print and video pieces abound, about a guy who does things the right way and demonstrates in every thing that he does that winning and having success are by-products of treating people the right way and embodying integrity, rather than an all-consuming goal at odds with playing by the rules.

WHERE WE HAVE A PROBLEM IS THIS: Lack of regional and national respect when it comes to conference and national Coach of the Year awards.  That's it, that's everything. With all that Billy Donovan has accomplished, there have been several years where he was deserving of one or both, but got passed over, presumably because everyone everywhere has somehow gotten used to FLORIDA FOR GOD'S SAKES WINNING TWENTY-FIVE BASKETBALL GAMES EVERY SINGLE YEAR! 

Yes, he gets well-deserved attention. What he doesn't get is the proper acclaim for being one of the absolute top-shelf best coaches in the game. Year after year after year.
