Message Replied To ========== Obvious? The football and baseball stadiums are named after doners as is the... tennis facility. As is the softball facility. The current basketball arena is named after an ex-pres. I'm not sure about swimming or golf. The track is named after Coach Beard but I'm not sure about the track stadium. There is not a big tradition of naming after successful coaches, at least not the building. Does the basketball practice facility even have a proper name?============================== SOS won one NC at a program that was vastly more established....then came back to coach at an opponent in our own division. Urban was only at UF for 6 years so even though he won 2 NC's its too short and then his drama queen act would've queered the deal anyway. We essentially had no legacy in basketball prior to Billy, our facilities and fan support were not embarrassing but they were hardly outstanding (unlike the situation in football by 1990)....and Billy has stayed 18 years and counting and won 2 national titles and could well win more. No other UF coach comes remotely close in terms of longevity and establishing a program basically from scratch like he did. |
