"Because it unfairly oppresses the poor"

Why is it wrong for the market to set wage rates? *

==============================

Being born in the United State, or anywhere in the world for that matter, entitles you to a living wage regardless of your ability to be productive or earn such living wage.

This encourages responsible social behavior and equalizes the burden of productivity among all.  Markets are inherently inefficient and corrupt and our honest and open government, of, by and for the people, must step in to guarantee social justice. The purity of government is the only thing that can save the nation, and the world, from the social injustice created by allowing markets to set wage rates.

We've seen how effective the minimum wage is since its inception in 1938, and income inequality has decreased dramatically since the uniform standards were established in 1978. So obviously raising the minimum wage is the answer to income inequality.
