"I think the author of that opinion piece does not understand what a "study" is"

Six Studies That Show Everything Republicans Believe is Wrong......

That's basically why I couldn't be a Republican anymore. You have to constantly invent all these vivid imaginations and boogeymen to be Republican anymore. When you observe the world for how it actually is you will become a liberal.

Most of what he lists as "studies" are not studies at all but instead left wing op-eds..and the few "studies" he does list are meta-analysis in which the authors censor data they don't like.

Let us stick with just one: his proposition that the ACA is "working". based on..what? That everyone who liked their insurance was able to keep it? That most people saw a $2500 reduction in their insurance premiums (a recent poll has only 8% reporting a benefit from the ACA, 47% are reporting large increases in their insurance costs). Even the claim that overall spending is down is not true..that temporary blip is now gone and overall healthcare spending is rising as fast as ever..and I will predict that we will see overall spending rise even faster in the next couple of years now that most of healthcare delivery has been monopolized by the ACA regulations.

I am certain that every point made in that oped from that great bastion of journalistic integrity "Rolling Stone" can be refuted, if we wanted to waste the time doing so.

A "study" compares the results of one circumstance vs another with as many confounding factors controlled for. For instance: studying "Accountable Care Organizations" (a huge thing in the ACA) and comparing costs and quality vs standard fee for service. of course, those studies have shown very little benefit towards the ACA's ACOs.But that real data is ignored by the Administration.
