I have no idea what the author's political leanings are. His experience sure flies in the face of all the vicious rhetoric the Republicans spew about welfare and the social safety net. It also seems he has contributed more to the economy since then than those Republicans and the vast majority who buy into all the welfare queen bogeyman nonsense.
