....is that I'm already doing a substantial amount of self-insuring via a VERY high annual deductible plan.  Yeah, my rates will go up as I age, but they shouldn't go up like this.  And I've been getting rate increases prior to this year too, but not this bad.  The ACA seems to have accelerated the process considerably.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again:  prior to the ACA, the health-care system in this country was broken.  But there still seems to be this mentality out there that the ACA "solution" couldn't possibly make a bad system worse.  Yet that is exactly what is happening.

As for the villians in this piece....follow the money trail - it's not just the insurance companies that signed off on the ACA (and in so doing made it's passage possible).  But ultimately the buck stops with the irresponsible members of Congress that had to pass a bill to find out what was in it.
