Message Replied To ========== THE single biggest factor is the quality of the opponent I think fans of all schools are tired of their loyalty being abused by AD's scheduling complete and utter creampuffs because they're cheaper or so they can lower the performance bar for themselves by stealth. Just look at our non fsu out of conference schedule this year. Its downright shameful. Two cupcakes was not enough. They now have to saddle fans with three cupcakes. Its too much. I hope fans stay away from all schools in droves so they can force AD's to schedule real opponents in the OOC portion of the schedule. ==============================The single biggest factor is the corporatization of the game and everything that surrounds it and treating alumni/fans like chattel. They have continued to make it more difficult and more expensive to enjoy the gameday atmosphere which is the only real reason to go. It's gotten to the point were a lot of former season ticket holders are saying "#badword# it" and staying home. I haven't purchased season tickets since 2010. I just buy single game tickets (or more often than not, get a free extra from someone) now when I want to go (which is probably two games per season on average). I used to go to more Auburn games when I was living in Miami. Sure, the quality of opponents makes a difference, but I don't think it's the primary factor (although in fairness, LSU's home slate this year looks pretty bad). |
