Message Replied To ========== Here's why Muschamp shouldn't have reinstated the players. It's now made Yahoo news. In other words, he shouldn't have done it merely given how it's been perceived. Granted, he probably didn't think it would've been blown up the way it has, but even so, that says something about him. I've read a bunch of John Wooden's books lately. One thing I didn't know about him was that he never, ever talked about winning or losing. Never. It was all about preparation and then leaving it all on the floor. Thus I don't agree with those who are drawing a line in the sand that he has to have X number of victories this year, including against Y and Z, else he should be fired. What if we have injuries again, like we did last year? What if Y and Z are a lot better than us this year but we play as a team and leave it all on the field and still lose? I don't think it should be strictly the wins or losses that determine Muschamp's future at UF. It should be his leadership. Frankly, it's been pretty spotty. Given the shuffle at offensive coordinator, losing his temper at a fan, losing his mind on the sidelines and making his "mean" face to players, his clearly losing control of the locker room last year (a trying time to be sure, but he should never have tolerated players pointing fingers at one another and at the coaches), and his handling of the press throughout his tenure, especially this latest fiasco. It's a fiasco not because of the facts surrounding the decision but because of how it was perceived. If a lot of people think it's a fiasco, it is. He should be apologizing and taking responsibility, not explaining. That will simply be interpreted as making excuses. I want every head coach at UF to succeed. More importantly, I want every head coach at UF to lead. Imo, Muschamp needs improvement in this department. ==============================I'm glad that Muschamp appears not to GAF either. |
