Message Replied To ========== I can't believe how negative the board is... this is a game the Gators would have lost last year. They won it this year. That is a huge positive. First, Kentucky has certainly upgraded thier athletes, especially at receiver. Thier receivers caught the ball even when they were covered like blankets. Ours dropped 4 or 5 that were in thier hands when they were wide open. They catch those early balls this may have been a much happier place. Our defensive line dominated Kentucky. It was clear that the game plan was to make UK's inexperienced QB win the game (which he almsot did) by shutting down the running game. Kentucky only rushed for 81 yards. The Gator DBs had an up and down game. I think thier inexperienced showed. UK scored once on a busted coverage and had a couple other drives stay alive because of busted coverages. The DBs had 3 picks and could have had more. They need to stop tripping over the lines on the returns though. This group will get a lot better. The offensive line did well. I can not say they did bad when you rush for 237 yards. Kentucky was bringing the house a lot last night and Jeff was only sacked twice. This group needs to improve though and school is in session in Tusacloosa next week. RBs were very good. Broke a lot of tackle atempts and help on to the ball while UK was doing everything they could to rip it out of thier hands. Glad to see Kelvin was not seriously hurt by that late spear hit to the back. The receivers as a group were not good but not awful. A lot of dropped passes early that cold changed the complexion of this game. DeMarcus Robinson was a stud with 16 or 17 catches. He will be taken out by the Bama defense next week so someone else better pick it up. I thought Driskel managed the game well. Some of the missed throws came from Driskel feeling the pressure and getting rid of the ball earlier than he wanted. On several plays he was nailed right after getting rid of the ball. He still has trouble with the long ball and a couple of throws that make you scratch your head. I think overall his decision making has improved and he was getting the ball off quicker than in the past. I think he is a guy that gets too much crap from the fans. In the end he is 14-3 as a starter behind some weak o-lines and 3 different offensive coordinators. I usually do not complain about officiating. I have been watching Gator football for 45 of my 50 years. In that time, UF has had many coaches and all had teams that got penalized a lot. This team and this staff is no different. I will gripe about the lack of discipline penaties by the older players and assume the staff will do something about the younger ones. I don't remember who had the unsporting conduct penalty. He should running steps all week. After the late hit on Taylor that was not called I was worried that this game could devolve into an unsporting conduct mess and it did not. That is a credit to both staffs. However, that play is one I would send to the SEC office so they can coach up the ref. Who cares if Muschamp got caught cussing on TV? I don't. All coaches say that stuff. His veins are no longer popping out of his head and his face is turning red. He has improved. ==============================Coming from some fans. "I don't like the way he (Muschamp) behaves on the sidelines with his tantrums." Then I guess those same people must have HATED Spurrier with a passion if sideline behavior is such a paramount issue with them. |
