Message Replied To ========== Anyhoo I don't get all the bellyaching.... Alabama is the preeminent program in college football. They have unethically managed to land like 6 straight #1 recruiting classes. They have won 3 of the 5 last national titles. They have only lost twice in Tuscaloosa since the 2008 season started. They opened as 17 point favorites in this game. The Gators coming off 4-8 and in game 3 of a new offensive staff gave em all they could handle for 3 quarters. Coulda shoulda won that game if just a few plays had gone the other way. It wasn't a blowout by any stretch. We were in it with 12 minutes to go. Hey, I get it that there are no pyrrhic victories at the University of Florida. I am not saying there should be. We lost and that sucks. But saying we should scrap the season and fire the best AD in the nation over yesterday are some of the more bizarre meltdown type posts on the internet. ==============================in program history period. I don't care if you just playing against air that should not happen at all. Now if people are ok with that then fine. But if you supposedly have a head coach who is in theory a defensive guru and then your team the past two weeks gives up huge amounts of yardage then I think people are going to complain just a tad and start to question even further what exactly is going on. You also have continued drops by various players that in turn goes back to the question of moving up Chris Leak as the wide out coach which is something I certainly did question when this move was done many months ago. It was a high risk move because if the group does not produce and be consistent then it is completely going to blow back right on Will. And then you have the continued issues about game management by Jeff and whether or not the coaching staff has the nads to make a QB change or not. I get loyalty to any player but you can't tell me if a QB was not playing well that Spurrier would not have changed QB during the course of any game in order to see if a change would produce better results or not. When you literally have a fan base week to week talking about somebody's head coaching job and what it will take to maintain that job then at least in my mind you have a program is not in good shape. Losing is losing - I saw Clemson last night not give up a boat load of yards to a supposed highly ranked team. So don't tell me that is not possible. I don't care what type of team Bama is fielding right now. You can't tell me there is not enough talent on UF right now not to give that amount of yardage the past two games. Every single week there is going to be this one foot on the ledge, one foot off the ledge mentality about whether or not Will keeps his job. You can't tell me that is a good thing for the program to go through. Because yesterday was an opportunity to completely get off the ledge and just go play the rest of the season. Now that is not going to happen. The boat is leaking right now. And the minute this team starts losing to teams that they should not be losing too then Will is going to lose his job this season. Now is that going to happen - I don't know. Right now anything is possible - something positive could happen or negative thing can continue to happen. Everything will be a function of player changes in the coming weeks because after yesterday every single position on that team should be up for grabs starting with the QB position. I don't trust Jeff to win any meaningful game at all. I go back to his freshman year playing against Auburn on the road and somebody ran a deep post route who was completely wide open and Jeff completely overthrew the guy by 15 yards. He can't do it because he can't handle pressure situations during big games unless the defense is completely playing lights out thus eliminating the pressures of him trying to win the game. Jeff just is not very consistent and certainly that consistency does not help when you see people drop balls. I get it - it is a complete team effort in terms of mistakes right now. It is no knock on Jeff at all. He is obviously a very good person and he works hard every week. But if your heading coaching existence is depending on Jeff for the rest of the season then I would I say that is the equivalent of cutting your hand in a shark tank full of great whites. Good luck with taking that type of risk the rest of the way. I don't want to hear things will get corrected. Quit talking about it and just go do it - then maybe you might save your job. |
