"That is a defense attorneys straw and argument but it ignores reality" |

Message Replied To ========== David Cornwell. Excellent Points that further show JW's Innocence..Warchant post Here are a few bigger points, imo, from his interview on OTL yesterday: Here are the pertinent facts: 1) there is not enough evidence to convict Winston if rape. NOBODY is questioning that 2) The investigation into Winston now is not being forced on him by FSU football rivals, or ESPN. It is being forced on him by FSU. 3) TPD did a half assed investigation into the accusers allegations. Some think it is a cover up but it probably is just incompetence 4) FSU's student code of conduct requires the university to look into such allegations even if the knowledge of the accusation is not made directly to them. FSU failed to do that for over 1 year. 5) that failure on FSUs part is now the basis of a Title IX investigation which has much more serious implications than whether they win football games or not. 6) Winston's continuing antics off the field and FSU's bumbling of the situation has turned into a public relations nightmare for FSU...rightly or wrongly, Winston's public persona is now viewed as an arrogant prick by most of the public and FSU is viewed as a football factory willing to look the other way for their star athletes .. This also has negative implications for the university that hoes beyond football. 7) it did not help that their instate rival acting differently and relieved national media praise for. "Doing it the right way" (rightly or wrongly) when faced with a similar situation with a star quarterback. That set a sharp contrast that was even more embarrassing to FSU nationally. Nothing will come of the student conduct board investigation into Jameis Winston. The reality is, what matters is the Title IX investigation and whether FSU will just get a slap on the wrist or be made an example of. And how long it will take for FSU to repair their national image..which may take a long time. |
