"Supposedly there is a "small cabal" of VSers who have relentlessly supported Muschamp"

What is a regime dead-ender...

and when did this issue flare up? I've been away for mere hours and all has changed.

==============================

They have defended / excused him at every turn, even after the Mizzou loss. I'm not sure any VSer fits this profile exactly, but certainly concede the VS has a few who have strongly and quite consistently supported WM. Their support may have wavered a bit after Mizzou, but quickly returned after UGa. While possibly not agreeing with his every move, overall they have consistently felt UF should stick with WM. They tend to point to 11-2, point to his strong discipline and good defenses, believe he's learning and can still have a decent recruiting class.

On the other extreme, we have the consistent FHAers. This group is probably a bit larger and more vocal than the above. They have called for Foley to fire WM long before the Mizzou game, and steadfastly believe he is not the answer for UF; therefore, no matter what he does from here out, he needs to go. This group points to a list of issues during MW's tenure, mostly notably the loss to GSU, consistent offensive ineptitude, stubbornness to change, past success built on UM's recruits, players leaving, lack of player development, and recruiting issues.

Most VSers are somewhere in between these two extremes. They've been in a "wait and see" category, generally since the beginning of this season, once the decision was made to retain WM for 2014. Most (all?) briefly went to the FHA mode after the Mizzou game, but vacillated after the shocking and completely unexpected beat down of UGa. There is a range of views here on what it should take for MW to be retained. Most seem to think he needs to win out. Some add the winning the East, others winning a bowl game. Some would accept a loss to FSU, but UF needs to be "competitive" in that game.

I went to FHA mode after the GSU game, but once it was clear MW wasn't going anywhere, I felt it appropriate to support him and the team for 2014. It was "wait and see" for me until the LSU game, then the Mizzou debacle reinforced that. UGa and Vandy (with Treon at QB) has pulled me back to "wait and see", but I am quite skeptical. I'm not sold on MW, not even close, but am sticking with the criteria I set at the beginning of the season. He needs to win out and win the East. It's unlikely he'll meet it, but there's a chance. Of course I know it really doesn't matter what I think!

Personally, I've enjoyed the debates, although they can become tiresome and repetitive at times, and I wish we could all agree to disagree without the name calling.
