"Not bothered but I'm a little bored so I'll discuss..." |
|
Message Replied To ========== To those so bothered... by recruiting assessments provided by Hung and myself, please do not take these criticisms to heart. While they represent our sincere opinions on the state of UF recruiting, they are not intended to harm you, the reader, in any way shape or form. If they bother you still, then perhaps it is best not to read what we type. But before you insult or mock us, keep in mind that we have been consistent in our reviews for the past 3 seasons. We were the ones who called attention to recruiting misses BEFORE they became on-the-field problems that influenced our ability to win games. You are free to shoot the messenger and continue to whistle past the graveyard. We are used to this. It's been the norm for 3+ years now. Or, you could assign us the credibility that we've earned by being right on this. And before you think that we complain because we are simply "negative"....keep in mind that I have NEVER, EVER complained about basketball recruiting. We are negative when there is need to be. And right now, there is a substantial need for criticism and concern. ============================== It just seems to me that recruiting talk in November is just another means to knock Muschamp when you can't discuss actual losses in games. And god forbid he might actually be retained so we need more ammo. November is nowhere near the average commit date for 4 and 5 star players. Players have not taken the "official" last visits yet, there is still a dead period in Dec, there will be coaching changes at other schools (both HC and position), there are HS all-star games, and there are late flips and drama every year. Look at UF last year and all the drama around Lane and Cook and others. In Nov Harris, Tabor and a slew of other 2014 signees were not Gator commits. UF fired two coaches in Dec last year. Whatever problems that Gators have, recruiting is nowhere near the top of the list from 2011-14. The Gators signed a 5 star consensus- #1 at his position recruit to play QB in 2011 and he has been a complete and absolute bust. That is probem #1. If you have read any of my other posts you know that I think QB play has been the biggest factor that has plagued this team on offense. Problem #2 is UF has had three OC in 4 seasons. They have gone from spread, to pro style, and back to spread-light without forming much of an identity. I would add three different WR coaches too and different OL coaches. If you want to argue its coaching (offense) I'm cool with that but recruiting that is a tougher sell to me. I think you have to give some credence to the d-side of the ball if you are going to harp on the o-side. 247 sports ranked the UF classes: 2011- #12 SEC #5 2012- #4 SEC #2 2013- #3 SEC #2 2014- #9 SEC #7 Anyway back to 2015. Something has to happen, and either way I think it works out for UF. If the Gators win and Muschamp stays the coaching staff can pitch in December with momentum. If the Gators lose they will be in the headlines searching for a new coach. If the right hire is made they will get some players. Players want to play at UF but they want to know who will be their coach- makes sense to me for them to wait and see.
