I also used this as one of the justifications for why I believed Muschamp should have been fired last year.

I was wrong.

Specifically, I was wrong to call for Muschamp's head last year and I was wrong to call for it following the Mizzou game. Yes, I reached my determination on Muschamp last season, and perhaps Foley did as well. Perhaps not. And yes, firing Muschamp last season would have saved us this season and had been better for the immediate health of our football program.

However, I was convinced yesterday during the press conference that I was wrong and Foley was right. I have never, ever witnessed a more professional termination presser. Kudos to Muschamp for being a true professional and owning fault, and mega kudos to Foley and his staff for winning the press conference by doing things the right way and at the right time. Now, we are out in front of other schools on the job market, but VERY FEW are challenging what we did and when we did it.

This is the SECOND major controversy that UAA and the University handled brilliantly, the first being the Treon Harris issue. We won that controversy by doing things the right way, and we did the same yesterday with Muschamp's firing.

Now, instead of focusing on why UF is a difficult school and the "noise in the system"...most are focused on how UF is a top job. A big reason for that (not the only reason of course, not even the biggest) is credited to Jeremy Foley and how his staff do business.

NEVER confuse my caution last year with concern over Foley's capabilities. I believe him to be the best in the business. Yesterday, we saw evidence of that.

To those who criticize Foley for hiring Muschamp/Zook...you have grounds for complaint. So while I second any notion that Foley is the best, I also will recognize the validity of complaints directed at two obvious mistake hires.

With that said, two mistakes do not take away from a career of bringing championships to UF. And most importantly, we win by doing things the right way. That is why I am proud of Foley and his staff at UAA. They make me even MORE proud that UF is my alma mater.
