I am a UF alumnus and life-long supporter of the Florida Gators. I have witnessed the highs of the Spurrier/Meyer years, and the lows of probation. I've suffered the losses, both with the great coaches, and the not so great, and celebrated the glory of championships. I like to believe I know a lot about football and could even call a play or two if asked. That said, I also know that I could not begin to tell you whether our next coach should be Stoops or Gundy or Shanahan or Freeze or Harbaugh or Lombardi (John, not Vince, need someone who has been on campus afterall). I do, however, know what I want from our next coach.
I want our next coach to have the competitive spirit and love for UF we saw in Coach Spurrier. I want our next coach to have the energy of Ron Zook. I want our next coach to have the ingenuity of Urban Meyer. I want our next coach to have the class and integrity of Billy Donovan, Mary Wise, Becky Becky Burleigh, Jeremy Foley and yes, Will Muschamp. I want our next coach to engender the loyalty and devotion in his players as recently seen by Gators such as Darious Cummings for Will Muschamp. Yes, I want our next coach to win, but I want him to win the University of Florida way. When I say "It's Great to be a Florida Gator" it is less about the championships, and more about what it really means to be a Gator. I trust that Jeremy Foley and our athletic department will make the right choice for our program, and more importantly for our university.
