"Reason it was last week and not after the FSU game.."

I have been thinking about this off and on today

Why did J. Foley fire WM before the very last game ..would it make any difference to have waited? Did michigan already fire hoke?...and how come WM does not coach the bowl game? Why an interim coach...

==============================

1. End the speculation -- Jeremy is known for the phrase "what must be done eventually should be done immediately." The decision had been made.

2. Give Muschamp and his assistants as much time as possible to prepare their next move. They are now free to make phone calls and discuss future jobs, and to prepare the transition to a new coaching staff.

3. Allows JF to start making inquiries with potential candidates right away, since as you said he wants to get someone hired by Christmas.

4. Gets the "shock" factor for recruits over and done with. Gives them more time to re-think the situation and see what the Gators are going to do before committing with someone else.

As for not coaching the bowl game, having WM gone will end the "death watch" and allow fans, players, and recruits to look toward the future, rather than focus on WM's failures. If a new coach is named prior to the bowl, it allows him to be the focal point and get started on recruiting right away, without the lame duck coach still around.
