was bold, aggressive and fearless for most of the night last night.
Our gameplan (on both sides of the ball) kept them completely off balance for most of the night. The no huddle, the QB draws, the mix of runs out of the gun to passes...all of it was pretty much a thing of beauty for 2 and a half quarters. Our players seemed to be unaware that they were young and playing at perhaps the most difficult venue in college football last night. I attribute that to good coaching. These players seem to be willing to go to war for these coaches.
Yes, there were some bad calls, bad decisions and poor adjustments. But there were also some tired and spent young players at the end of the game. I am not making excuses, but as I read some of the posts on this board, it seems that some have seemingly forgotten the postives which put the smiles on our faces for much of the game last night.
Zook is an inexperienced head coach. He will improve (or as he likes to say "get better") with experience. But it's hard not to see that this team is more fundamentally sound than any in recent memory. A few questionable game decisions don't negate that in my mind.
Those who rant about how we should not be satisfied with moral victories, IMO, need a bit of a reality check. We were a mediocre football team last year. We are fielding a team with little or no college game experience. We went into a place where no opponent has won in what 34 tries and played beautiful, dominant, exciting, sound football for most of the game. Most of you know, as a South Floridian, I wanted that game as badly as anyone. But I am proud of our team and coaching staff. I am truly excited about this team and the future of Florida football.
