I don't know what UConn has in the frontcourt but they really must have taken the night off vs Yale as they had only 1 offensive rebound while we had 12.

Hard to judge true quality against such an opponent, everything looked good. About the only real complaint was committing three fouls on three point shots.  That's not smart.  That's not even C- work.

It was very nice to see Frazier hitting his threes.  His shot hasn't looked terrible, but they haven't really been falling in the early part of the season.  Last night he shot them in rhythm, didn't force any looks, and once they started dropping he had unlimited range and confidence.  Sat next to his dad.  A little concerned when he took the shot to the head, but much relieved when he came back out and continued to play.

Horford had a poor game.  He committed the most egregious of the 3pt fouls and got benched right away, plus Billy really gave him an earful.  He also was sat down when he was out fought for a rebound.  He didn't seem to have focus last night.  He wasn't a detriment to the team, but this was a game where he could have been more of a force and for whatever reason he didn't "announce his presence with authority".

In part because of that and also because he was playing better/smarter Walker got plenty of minutes and played pretty well.  He still looks like a Jackson Pollack painting with the ball in the halfcourt - all over the place and hard to figure out what you're looking at. In transition and plays to the rim he looks very good.  He rebounded better than he has displayed previously, but again I look to the competition for a lot of that. He did have a surprising albeit unsuccessful hustle play diving for the ball bear midcourt on defense.  We did turn themover on that possession and he was rewarded on the break with a nice pass for a dunk.  Overall it was a good effort and should help his confidence.

Casey Hill played very well.  He was too fast and too sure with his handle for the Bulldogs to bother him.  Played in control and distributed the ball very well. He played good D and ran the team well.  Good to see.

 DFS had his best offensive game from the outside.  Perhaps the arm isn't giving him as much pain as he seemed confident and unhesitant to put up the three and hit it. 

Robinson played well too.  Not just because of the opponent, but he didn't jack up what I would consider bad shots for the first game this season.  Maybe he's starting to get it, maybe they all are because the movement was much better throughout the game and the ball was passed much more than it was dribbled.  All good signs.

Nice to see Kurtz have a career night.  His mom and dad were sitting next to Allie and they showed her a text from his sister after he dunked, "He never does that!"

Glad to see Hodskins get in.  His mom and dad, plus his aunt who was at her first Gator game ever, were sitting right in front of us and they were so proud to see him get in the game.  The students were cheering for him, too.  I doubt he ever gets any real minutes, but the back pass he tried to Kurtz was pretty sporty if a little strong.  Then again I never thought Jake would play as much as he has the past two years, so who knows?

Met Eli Carter's girlfriend at the sign in desk and she said he has been cleared to play byt Billy wanted to rest him and not push him back on the court too soon.  Was surprised how tall Murphy is. They list him at 6'8", but he is right at the same height as Horford and Walker, only Egbunu - who we could really use with his bulk this year - looked taller.  Another big body, despite his possible offensive shortcomings, will be welcome on the defensive end starting later this month.

We've had the tough losses to show the guys how easy it is to drop a game you think you're in control of, so this is nice to as an example of what can happen when you play within the system and focus for the entire game.  Usually you don't get much from a blowout like this, but for this team at this time it was needed and beneficial beyond just getting a win.  There will still be growing pains but I think we'll see more ups than downs from here on out.  I'd readjust my preseason estimation and say they are capable of Sweet Sixteen, but could also be an early exit if outside shooting woes recur in the tournament.  No back to the basket post presence is the problem I don't see us filling this year - jump shots and drives, no pivot moves.  Might be enough to have a very good year anyway.
