Urban Meyer has them in the playoffs. Arrogant? Sure. At least they have some basis in modern times for being arrogant. What the hell does Michigan have? The 1930's? I doubt even my grandfather would have been old enough to remember Fielding Yost. We're supposed to bow down because they won championships in the first few decades of the 20th century? Big whoop. Apparently you have. UM is not in terminal decline. Its arguably the top public university in the country with ~$10B endowment which, by the way, dwarfs ours. They aren't going anywhere. Any arrogance I experienced was based on academics which they should be proud of...not football. They can afford to pay any coach the big money. UM's problem is they are not in a hot bed of football talent and will have to work harder than OSU to attract talent to AA. I am sure a lot of potential coaches also see this as a barrier to winning. Harbaugh is a guy who I think could attract top out of state talent to be able to compete with OSU based on his reputation. I just don't want to see Meyer's mug every year in the playoffs after strolling through a weak big ten. I like Harbaugh's personality too whom a lot of people don't like. He would probably eye roll and laugh at Meyer's "school up north" motivational gimmicks. I've been a fan of Harbaugh's ever since he played for the Colts. Damn I wished we would have made an offer! |
