Your shy friend is in the corner, drunk off his balls entertaining a table of foreign exchange students. You're still at the bar nursing a bud light and scratching at the varnish with the tip of a half-broken fingernail. You haven't used your voice in at least 45 minutes. You're scared. You're desperate. You keep looking at the clock; counting down the moment you're going to walk back to your car, alone, pull the handle to the door, alone, crouch inside, alone, and drive your blue-balled self home.
